Meet: Fritz Pollard - The Fredrick Douglass of Football – Make a Team Pennant
Fritz Pollard — a Chicago-born Lane Tech graduate who became the NFL's first Black head coach in 1921 — gets a focused spotlight in this library workshop at Hegewisch on Tuesday, November 10 from 6:00 to 7:00 PM. After learning about his legacy and his place in the untold stories of Black history and heritage (the program is part of the Chicago Public Library's Renaissance Project), participants design their own felt pennant representing a favorite team, community, or idea. Family-friendly and free, registration is active. Accessibility requests should be made at least 14 business days in advance.
