Tsukimi: Moon Viewing Festival at Jackson Park
The Chicago Park District's annual Tsukimi, or Moon Viewing Festival, returns to Osaka Garden in Jackson Park on Saturday evening, September 26, from 8:00 to 11:00 PM. Guests are invited to write small poems under the harvest moon with haiku poets from the Haiku Society of America and Regina Harris Baiocchi, watch master shodo calligrapher Heikun Oda perform a "big brush" calligraphy demonstration, and enjoy a limited number of tsukimi dango (moon-viewing mochi). Pre-recorded music from the Toyoakimoto Ensemble sets the tone. The event is free, open to all as capacity allows, and no dogs, outside food, or photography are permitted inside the garden. Registration is required via the Active.com link.
