Member Lecture: Mary Cassatt—After Impressionism (Dec 18)
The Art Institute’s member-exclusive talk on Friday, December 18, from 11 AM to 12 PM in Rubloff Auditorium offers a focused look at Mary Cassatt’s most innovative period. Curator Annelise Madsen examines the paintings, pastels, and prints Cassatt made after the final Impressionist exhibition in 1886, when she pushed into ambitious new territory—including complex color prints, the tender caregiver compositions she is now known for, and a mural commission for Chicago’s 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition. This lecture marks the centennial of Cassatt’s death and is free for members with registration required. Closed captioning will be available.
