A hands-on workshop at the International Museum of Surgical Science that teaches two forms of traditional Japanese bookbinding. Participants construct a Goshuinchō, the accordion-style book used to collect calligraphic stamps from Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples, and a Yotsume Toji stitched notebook using the four-hole stab binding technique. Instructor Mami Takahashi, a multidisciplinary artist and scholar, leads the Thursday, October 8 session from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. All materials are provided, and the workshop is designed for beginners — no prior experience needed.
