Exhibit Opening: The Japan Room
The International Museum of Surgical Science opens its renewed Japan Gallery on Friday evening, October 23, from 6 to 9 PM, with a program that pairs medical history with live art and music. The exhibit traces Japanese surgery through Nihonga paintings, calligraphy, and historical medical objects, centered on physician Hanaoka Seishū's early work with general anesthesia. The evening includes a koto performance, a large-brush calligraphy demonstration by Hekiun Oda, and a small origami station. Free, with registration through Eventbrite.
