A curator and a leading scholar sift through Mary Cassatt's letters to recover the artist's own voice—something she never committed to a diary or formal manifesto. On Thursday, October 1, from 6 to 7 PM, Annelise K. Madsen (curator of the Art Institute's *Mary Cassatt: After Impressionism*) and Nancy Mowll Mathews (author of *Cassatt and Her Circle: Selected Letters*) discuss what the correspondence reveals about Cassatt's views on art, the labor of making, and the political concerns of her era, including women's suffrage. Free with museum admission; registration is required. Closed captioning will be available.
