Madsen (curator of the Art Institute's *Mary Cassatt: After Impressionism*) and Nancy Mowll Mathews (author of *Cassatt and Her Circle: Selected Letters*) discuss what the correspondence reveals about Cassatt's views on art, the labor of making, and the political concerns of her era, including women's suffrage.
