Community Repair with Bevel & Kerf Woodworking

Community Repair is a free, volunteer-run event where you bring in broken furniture, appliances, clothing, or electronics and get hands-on help fixing them. It takes place Sunday, August 23, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at the Portage-Cragin location. Drop off items by 2:00 PM (limit two per person), and you can sit with the volunteers to learn what they're doing or browse the library while you wait. The crew has experience with woodwork, carpentry, computer and electronics repair, minor electrical work, and mending clothes — though they're upfront that they're not a professional repair center and can't fix gas-powered tools or broken screens. Large items like pianos and washing machines are not accepted, but you're welcome to stop by for DIY advice on bigger projects at home.
