On Wednesday evening, August 19, from 6:00 to 7:30 PM, Archer Heights Library hosts a screening of the WTTW documentary *Chicago Stories: Candy Capital*, which traces the city's outsized role in confectionery history—Brach, Mars, Wrigley, and the more than 100 candy companies operating here around the 1893 World's Fair. After the film, attendees can write personal memories of Chicago as part of the citywide Letters to America initiative, a civic storytelling project tied to the 250th anniversary of the United States. Those letters will be preserved in the Chicago Public Library's permanent archival collection. Free and open to all; sign language interpretation is available with 14 business days' notice.
