Walking Tour | Pilsen Murals
A walking tour through Pilsen led by local poet and multidisciplinary artist Luis Tubens, who unpacks the meaning behind the neighborhood's murals on railroad viaducts, buildings, and doors. The walk traces the evolution of Mexican identity, heritage, and activism through public art, presented as part of the museum's look at civic action during the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. The tour runs 1.5 to 2 hours on Saturday, September 5, starting at 10:30 AM, and meets outside the National Museum of Mexican Art at 1852 West 19th Street. It's $25, or $22.50 for members, and includes free admission to the Chicago History Museum for one week from the tour date.
