A walking tour of the West Loop that traces the neighborhood's evolution from a garment district to Oprah's Harpo Studios to the present day, led by author and storyteller Connie Fairbanks. The 60-to-90-minute route starts at Mary Bartelme Park and ends near the Midwest Bank Building, covering about a mile of sidewalk. Highlights include the Pray for Peace sculpture, remnants of the garment district, and the site where the powdered sugar doughnut was perfected. The tour takes place Saturday, August 22 at 4 PM, and the $25 fee ($22.50 for members) includes free admission to the Chicago History Museum for one week.
