The walking tour covers the rise and fall of Prairie Avenue, Chicago's Gilded Age "Millionaire's Row," with guide and researcher Tony Szabelski. The 1.5- to 2-hour walk on Sunday, August 30, at noon moves past the Second Empire, Queen Anne, and Richardson Romanesque homes that once belonged to the city's wealthiest families, with detours into the ghost stories attached to the Kimball and Marshall Field Jr. houses. The tour meets at Glessner House (1800 S. Prairie Ave.) and ends at Second Presbyterian Church (1936 S. Michigan Ave.). Tickets are $25, $22.50 for members, and include free admission to the Chicago History Museum good for one week from the tour date.
