The Universe, Black Chicago Aviators and Astronauts
A multimedia lecture at the Harold Washington Library Center that connects Chicago's history as a hub for Black aviation with the city's legacy of producing Black astronauts and pilots, all viewed through an Afrofuturistic lens. The presentation on Saturday, October 10, from 3 to 4 PM, uses space travel themes in Black music and archival material to show how this heritage inspired real-world careers in flight. Part of the library's Renaissance Project series, the talk invites audience participation. Free and open to the public, with sign language interpretation available if requested 14 business days in advance.
