Chris Sweet, a librarian, former pro triathlete, and author of *A History of Bicycling in Illinois: 160 Years of Booms and Busts*, gives a talk at the Harold Washington Library Center on Thursday, November 12, from 6:00 to 7:00 PM. The presentation homes in on the 1890s bicycle boom and how it intersected with politics, religion, sport, and economics. Sweet brings along antique bikes from his own collection, including a penny-farthing, for attendees to see up close. Free, but sign-language interpretation and other accessibility requests must be made at least 14 business days in advance.
