
Taxidermy 101 - Museum Specimen Preparation
A beginner's specimen preparation class at the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, led by trained preparator Robert Kelsey. Over the course of Sunday, July 26, from 10:30 AM to 3:30 PM, participants receive one-on-one guidance from museum collections professionals while completing a small mammal specimen from start to finish. The workshop covers basic preparation techniques and the role of specimens in biodiversity research. All materials are provided, and attendees take home their finished specimen. Participants must be 18 or older, bring a brown-bag lunch, and should be comfortable working with sharp tools. Advanced registration is required; members receive a discounted price of $185, with general admission at $220.
