Sculpt Like Hunt and Perkins: A Creative Sculpting Workshop

On Wednesday, November 4, from 6:00 to 7:30 PM, artist Joy Joshua leads a hands-on workshop at the Beverly branch that connects participants to the work of two major Black Chicago sculptors, Richard Hunt and Marion Perkins. Hunt, who grew up in Woodlawn and Englewood, completed 160 public sculpture commissions nationwide over his six-decade career. The session invites you to experiment with mixed-media materials like clay, wire, and aluminum foil, using geometric shapes, figurative abstraction, and community-inspired prompts. The program is free and part of the Chicago Public Library's Renaissance Project, supported by the Mellon Foundation.
