Proud and Loud is a new multi-arts showcase that centers disability and creative expression, with a community mural, dance, music, and performance art all in one evening. Curated by Chicago artist and disability activist Genevieve Ramos, the program at Kosciuszko Park on Monday, July 27, from 5 to 7 PM includes performances by dancers Ladonna Freidheim, Hana Javed, Robby Lee Williams, and Alexis Smith, musician Victoria Boateng, and the Crossing Borders Music String Quartet playing works by composers with disabilities. Attendees can help make the mural themselves. ASL interpretation is provided, and the organizers emphasize that everyone is welcome.
