Pope Film Fest: Life is Beautiful (La Vita È Bella) (1997)

Pope Film Fest screens Roberto Benigni's Oscar-winning *Life is Beautiful* at the Archer Heights branch on Sunday, November 22, at 8:00 AM — an early start, even for a film club. Benigni's film shifts from slapstick comedy to a harrowing concentration-camp drama, where an Italian Jewish father devises a game to shield his young son from the truth. In Italian with English subtitles; snacks are available while they last. This is one of many free community cinema screenings hosted at library branches across the city.
