The OUT at CHM trolley tour with guide Mike McMains redirects the usual North Side focus of Chicago's LGBTQIA+ history to the South Loop and Bronzeville, where lively queer communities and culture-shaping scenes existed generations before Northalsted. The tour on Saturday, October 3, starting at 10:00 AM, covers the city's first LGBTQIA+ rights organization (1924), drag balls that drew diverse crowds, the "Mother of the Blues" and "Godfather of House Music," and former vice districts that shaped house music. Participants can view historical photographs on their smartphones along the way. The tour departs from and returns to the Harris Theater at 205 E. Randolph Street, runs 90 to 120 minutes, costs $50 ($45 for members), and includes free admission to the Chicago History Museum for one week.
