Member Preview: Mary Cassatt—After Impressionism (Fri)

Mary Cassatt: After Impressionism opens to the public later, but on Friday, September 4 from 10 AM to 5 PM, Art Institute members can preview the exhibition in Galleries 182–184 before anyone else. This is the museum's first dedicated show for the artist in over 25 years, marking the centennial of her death with more than 75 paintings, pastels, and prints. The exhibition focuses on the late-1880s through early-1900s stretch of Cassatt's career, a period when she pushed into ambitious color prints, the theme of mothers and children, and an unprecedented mural commission for the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition. Entry is free for members—just have your card ready to scan.
