Meet: Fritz Pollard - The Fredrick Douglass of Football – Make a Team Pennant
At the Logan Square library on Wednesday, December 2, from 2 to 3 PM, a workshop digs into the story of Fritz Pollard — a Lane Tech grad and Chicago native who became the NFL's first Black head coach in 1921. After learning about his history, participants design a felt pennant representing their favorite team, community, or hobby. The program is family-friendly and part of the library's Renaissance Project, which highlights untold stories of Black history and heritage. Registration is required; sign language and other accessibility requests are available with at least 14 business days' notice.
