Fritz Pollard, a Chicago-born Lane Tech graduate, became the first African American head coach in NFL history in 1921, and this workshop at Humboldt Park on Wednesday, November 11, from 6 to 7 PM tells his story. Designed as a family-friendly program, participants learn about Pollard’s legacy and then design a felt pennant representing their favorite team, community, or hobby. The event is part of the Chicago Public Library’s Renaissance Project, which highlights untold stories of Black history and heritage. Free, with sign language interpretation available with two weeks' notice.
