Meet: Fritz Pollard - The Fredrick Douglass of Football – Make a Team Pennant

The Harold Washington Library Center hosts a workshop on Saturday, October 17, from 2:00 to 3:00 PM, that spotlights Fritz Pollard, the Lane Tech graduate who became the NFL’s first Black head coach in 1921. The program, part of the library’s Renaissance Project, pairs a short history of Pollard’s impact with a hands-on craft: participants design a felt pennant for their favorite team, community, or hobby.
