Meet Calvin B. Jones: Make a Mini-Mural

Artist Calvin B. Jones, active in the Black Arts Movement and influenced by Chicago's AfriCOBRA collective, painted six murals on the South and West sides between 1976 and 1987. This hands-on family program at the Archer Heights library on Monday, November 16, from 2:00 to 3:00 PM, explores his life and work while asking whose murals get saved. Participants create a mini-mural inspired by Jones's bold Cool-Ade colors and African print designs. Presented as part of the Renaissance Project at Chicago Public Library, it's a substantive, intergenerational way to engage with local Black history and heritage. Free, registration required.
