Meet Calvin B. Jones: Make a Mini-Mural

This Saturday afternoon, October 24, from 2:00 to 3:00 PM, the Harold Washington Library Center hosts a family workshop on the work of Calvin B. Jones, a muralist active in the Black Arts Movement and influenced by Chicago’s AfriCOBRA collective. The session explores the question of whose public murals get preserved, then guides participants through a mini-mural activity using the bold colors and African print designs characteristic of Jones’s style. It’s a hands-on, all-ages program that connects directly to the city’s cultural history. Free, registration required.
