Meet Calvin B. Jones: Make a Mini-Mural
The artist Calvin B. Jones, active in Chicago's Black Arts Movement and influenced by the AfriCOBRA collective's signature "Cool-Ade colors," is the focus of this hands-on family workshop at the Lozano branch. Participants learn about Jones's six South and West Side murals, painted between 1976 and 1987, and the question of whose public art gets preserved. The program, part of the Chicago Public Library's Renaissance Project, includes a guided mini-mural activity using bold colors and African print designs. It runs Thursday, September 10, from 6:00 to 7:00 PM. Free, but registration is active.
