Lecture: The Many Lives of Sullivan’s Ornament
On the 100th anniversary of Louis Sullivan’s *A System of Architectural Ornament*, curator Alison Fisher traces the strange afterlife of the architect’s most distinctive work. The talk covers how his contemporaries viewed the ornament in the late 19th century, the modernist historians who dismissed it, and the photographers who helped revive interest in the 1950s — arguing the designs are the ultimate expression of creative freedom. It happens Thursday evening, December 10, from 6:00 to 7:00 PM in Fullerton Hall. Free with museum admission, but registration is required; closed captioning will be available.
