Traditional garments in Southwest Asia and North Africa do more than signal identity — the colors, patterns, and materials also trace histories of migration, trade, and colonialism. This illustrated talk, presented alongside the Art Institute's exhibition *Embroidered Traditions from Morocco to Afghanistan*, focuses on the Arabian Peninsula as a crossroads of cultures and geographies. Alex Aubry, director of the Fashion Resource Center at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, leads the discussion on Thursday, December 3, from 6:00 to 7:00 PM at Fullerton Hall. Aubry brings deep expertise from his work as former curatorial director of the Art of Heritage Collection of Saudi Material Culture and a decade-plus at *Harper’s Bazaar Arabia*. Free with museum admission; registration is required.
