ESL Practice: English Conversation Group
The English conversation group at Harold Washington Library Center pairs intermediate speakers with guided discussion, a practical option for anyone who wants to move beyond textbook English. Run with Literacy Chicago, the Wednesday afternoon sessions from 3:00 to 4:30 PM focus on current events, daily life in Chicago, and other real-world topics — the idea is to build vocabulary and confidence through conversation rather than drills. New participants need to enroll through the Literacy Chicago website before attending their first session. The group also welcomes Spanish speakers (information is provided in Spanish) and requests for accessibility accommodations must be made 14 business days in advance.
