Earth Jam & Family Day in Sankofa for the Earth at Burnham

Earth Jam & Family Day at Sankofa for the Earth returns to Burnham Park on Sunday, October 4, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM, rescheduled from its original September date. The afternoon opens with a group walk down the nature path from the parking lot at E 47th Street and Cornell Drive, accompanied by live music, to the Sankofa Gathering Space. Once there, the celebration includes face painting, refreshments, instrument and noise-maker making, a libation ceremony, storytelling with Mama Edie, an acoustic jam session led by SamThousand, and African drumming. Bring your own acoustic instrument to join the jam. The event is a collaboration between the Roots & Routes Initiative partners, including the Chicago Park District, the Nature Conservancy, and the Field Museum, marking three years of celebrating the Bronzeville community and its lakefront green space. Free and open to all.
