Will Quam, the photographer and historian behind Brick of Chicago, presents a deep dive into the city's architectural history through the lens of its brick buildings. The talk covers how Chicago rebuilt with local clay after the 1871 fire, the shifting fashions in brickwork from solid red to bark-textured to iron-flecked, and a special focus on the Harold Washington Library's masonry. The event runs roughly one hour with a Q&A to follow, and attendees can purchase and have signed a copy of Quam's book, *Fire and Clay: How Brick Reveals the Hidden History of Chicago*, published by the University of Chicago Press. It takes place Saturday, March 13, from 1:00 to 2:30 PM at the Harold Washington Library Center. Free.
