Brian Quijada and Nygel D. Robinson: “Mexodus” (ONLINE)

A livestream discussion with Brian Quijada and Nygel D. Robinson, the co-creators of the award-winning musical “Mexodus,” airing Thursday, November 5 at a time to be announced by the American Writers Museum. They talk craft—how they blend hip-hop, R&B, jazz, and bolero, use live looping to build the entire soundscape each night, and why the story of the Underground Railroad heading south to Mexico matters. “Mexodus” has already racked up honors Off-Broadway (Drama League Award, New York Times critics pick) ahead of its Chicago premiere November 7–21 at Studebaker Theater, so this is a chance to hear from its makers before the local run begins. Register for the streaming link; the event also takes place in person at the museum.
