Artist Talk | Mel Lyons

Mel Lyons — artist, educator, Marine Corps veteran, and founding member of the Microphone Misfitz collective — gives a free talk at the Harold Washington Library Center on Tuesday, July 21, at 6:00 PM. Lyons brings an unusually broad resume: two decades teaching art, theater, and science; painting and running workshops for the National Veterans Art Museum; producing radio and TV for Chicago's CAN-TV and Que4 Radio; and a 2018 trip to China to share hip-hop three years after the country banned it. The talk is a chance to hear from someone who moves across music, comics, visual art, and education without settling into one lane.
