American Prophets: The Platinum Age of Gospel (IN PERSON)
Charrise Barron, a minister, gospel artist, and Harvard professor, visits the American Writers Museum to discuss her new book *The Platinum Age of Gospel*, which examines how Black gospel music crossed over into the mainstream between 1993 and 2013, reshaping American popular music and the culture of Black churches. Barron signs books after the program, which takes place Thursday, December 3 in the Loop (the event is also available via livestream). It’s a thoughtful evening for anyone interested in music history, religious culture, or the business of crossover — presented alongside the museum’s ongoing exhibit *American Prophets: Writers, Religion, and Culture*.
