Fiber artist Eliza Ferdinand leads a hands-on quilting workshop for teens at the Harold Washington Library Center, offered in connection with the exhibition *A Quilt Is a Poem That We Say Again: queer quilting Chicago*. The session on Monday, November 9, from 4:00 to 5:30 PM, is a rare chance for teens 13 to 17 to work directly with the artist whose practice has grown over four years from a few dozen quilt-curious participants into a community collective. Improvisation, pattern-following, and incorporating text and personal expression are all on the table — the point is entry into a creative practice, not a finished heirloom. The exhibition itself remains on view in the Ida B. Wells Corridor through January 11, 2027, for anyone who wants to see what the collective has made. Free, but registration is required.
