ISAC Exhibit: Hartapu: The Forgotten King of Anatolia
A new exhibition at the ISAC Museum tells the story of an eighth-century BCE king who was virtually unknown until an inscribed stone turned up in a Turkish irrigation canal in 2019. *Hartapu: The Forgotten King of Anatolia* follows how that discovery upended what scholars thought about the balance of power between Phrygia and the Neo-Assyrian Empire, using ancient inscriptions, archaeological finds from ongoing excavations, and imaging technology. Contemporary works by artist SaraNoa Mark provide a quieter counterpoint on landscape and memory. The exhibition opens Saturday, October 24, at 10:00 AM and runs through March 14, 2027, accessible with regular museum admission.
