Writing in the Galleries returns on Thursday evening, September 17, from 5:30 to 7:00 PM in Gallery 125, this time using the exhibition *Beyond Form: Abstraction at Midcentury* as a springboard. Participants work through open-ended writing prompts that mirror compositional techniques like rupture, action, gesture, and collage—a thoughtful, low-pressure way to engage with abstract art on your own terms. Bring your own notebook and pencil, or use materials provided; folding stools are also available. The session is free with museum admission, no registration required. Facilitators include writer and educator Roy Zhu and Nancy Chen, associate director of Gallery Activation at the Art Institute, so the conversation should be well-grounded.
