Where Memory Lives: 40 Years of Día de Muertos
Where Memory Lives marks the 40th annual Día de Muertos exhibition at the National Museum of Mexican Art, tracing the evolution of the holiday and the institution itself through works drawn from the Permanent Collection. The show runs Friday, September 25 through Sunday, November 29, 2026, in the Main Gallery. Like the holiday it honors, the exhibition treats art as a way of keeping memory alive — in this case, four decades of collecting and celebrating Mexican visual culture. Free.
