Vivir la Tierra Acquisitions from the Permanent Collection 2010–2026

The National Museum of Mexican Art draws from its permanent collection for "Vivir la Tierra," an exhibition of more than forty works acquired over the last sixteen years. Spanning the late nineteenth century to the present, the show moves through photography, painting, printmaking, sculpture, installation, and video to explore land as a living archive of belonging, labor, and memory. Curated threads trace early photographic representations of the Mexican landscape, contemporary investigations of land and identity, and works addressing migration and community formation in Chicago's Pilsen neighborhood. The exhibition opens Saturday, August 15, and runs through Sunday, February 7, 2027, at the Rubin & Paula Torres Gallery. Free admission.
