Join a local TreeKeeper to get to know the trees in our neighborhood. Learn to identify common trees in Chicago, and learn about their unique qualities, lineages, and their relationships to one another, and why a diversity of species keeps our urban forest resilient. You'll learn some basics of tree identification, as well as how the trees in our neighborhood fit into the larger picture of evolution and ecology, hopefully giving a greater understanding of our own place in the urban forest, in our society, and in the universe.

Openlands TreeKeepers are a group of volunteer urban forest stewards that advocate for the overall health and care of trees in the Chicago Region. The Urban Forestry Programming at Sulzer Library is proudly supported and funded by Openlands .
