Toxins in Talons: Monitoring Great Lakes Raptors

Raptors act as early-warning systems for environmental toxins, and this session at the Field Museum brings together researchers tracking that signal across the Great Lakes. On Friday, July 31, from 11 AM to 1 PM, hear from the Great Lakes Eagle Health Project on how contaminants affect bald eagle nestlings, including new work on PFAS "forever chemicals" by Field Museum Research Associate Emily Ruhs. The Chicago Peregrine Program's Mary Hennen and Dylan Maddox also discuss decades of monitoring peregrine falcon recovery from DDT and what urban raptors reveal about the health of the region.
