Threads Tell Stories: How Archaeologists Read Andean Textiles
At the Field Museum on Wednesday, November 4, from 11 AM to 1 PM, a workshop led by anthropologist Rosa María Varillas turns a close look at Andean textiles into a kind of detective work. Visitors examine fibers, weaving techniques, colors, and patterns to consider what they reveal about technology, identity, and daily life in the past—using both contemporary textiles and archaeological images. The session is included with museum admission and offers a thoughtful, hands-on way to spend a late morning in the galleries.
