The Rink Effect is a community engagement activation presented by the Care Moor Foundation in partnership with the Chicago Park District. Skating is deeply rooted in Chicago as a joyful tradition, something the city has always come together to celebrate. Chicago’s passion for roller skating runs deep, from iconic spots like The Loop Rink and Rainbow, all the way to Screaming Wheels in Gary. No matter the neighborhood, Chicago has always found a weekend to lace up those four wheels and glide across hardwood, blacktop, or even the concrete sidewalk.Today, that love for skating is still thriving, but there are not many skating rinks around anymore. so, we’re aiming to bring that same nostalgic, feel-good energy right to the Plaza at Garfield Park, turning the park into an outdoor rink experience for the whole community.
