On Saturday afternoon, November 14, at 2:00 PM, Les Begay of the Diné (Navajo) nation gives a talk at the Edgewater branch on how the U.S. government used laws to appropriate Native lands and erase cultures, then connects those practices to present-day treaty violations. Begay, a founder of the Indigenous Peoples Day Coalition who lectures in high schools and colleges, partners with the Edgewater Historical Society for this program. The talk runs about an hour. Call or email the library in advance for sign language interpretation or other accessibility accommodations.
