Star Trek: Deviations: Threads of Destiny Comic Book Event

The Obama Presidential Center hosts a Renaissance Project event tying the *Star Trek* universe to Chicago-area history. On Tuesday, November 10, from 6 to 7 PM, the evening focuses on Nichelle Nichols' decision to stay on the show as Nyota Uhura after a conversation with Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and connects that moment to her hometown of Robbins, Illinois, once the nation's capital for Black aviation. A special one-shot comic book imagines Uhura pulled back through time to 1963, joining the Civil Rights Movement. Free copies of the comic are available to attendees while supplies last.
