Join us for a 30-minute talk on the history of Mannerism, an Italian painting style that featured heightened colors, distorted figures, and strange compositions. Emerging in the 1520s and 30s, the popular style of painting reveals ideas behind Renaissance conceptions of beauty.

what to expect This program will begin in Gallery 205, which is accessible via elevator and the Woman’s Board Grand Staircase. The program will last 30 minutes. ASL interpretation is available upon request at museum_interpretation@artic.edu . Requests must be made at least two weeks in advance.
