Spotlight Talk in ASL: Upper Part of a Tabernacle for the Holy Sacrament
A 30-minute gallery talk delivered entirely in American Sign Language, focused on a carved tabernacle fragment in the Medieval art collection. The relief is the upper of two surviving panels from the altar of the Holy Sacrament in Rome’s Santa Maria Maggiore, dismantled in 1573 during a renovation overseen by Cardinal Guillaume d’Estouteville; its matching panel remains in the basilica. The talk takes place Sunday, December 29 — wait, the date says November 29, 2026, which is a Sunday. Correction: it takes place Sunday, November 29, from noon to 12:30 PM, meeting in Gallery 237. Free with museum admission, no registration required.
