Spotlight Talk: Head of Amun
The Art Institute’s Egyptian art curator gives a focused, 30-minute talk on the Head of Amun, a statue carved with King Tutankhamun’s features that’s only on loan for a limited time. Ashley Arico, who re-hung the museum’s entire ancient Egypt gallery in 2022, explains how Egyptians used facial cues to differentiate their gods. The Spotlight Talk format keeps it intimate: just one object, one expert, and a handful of stools in Gallery 50 on the lower level. It’s Monday, September 21, from 2:00 to 2:30 PM, and free with museum admission — no registration required.
