Spotlight Talk: Gabriel Metsu

A 30-minute gallery talk in Gallery 213 of the Art Institute on Monday, December 7, at 2 PM, led by curatorial fellow Annie Correll. She examines Gabriel Metsu’s *Woman Reading a Book by a Window*, a rare Dutch painting of a female scholar that balances allegory with lived reality, arriving as a loan from the Leiden Collection. Correll, a specialist in early modern northern European art, situates the work within a moment when women were just beginning to enter Dutch universities. Free with museum admission; no registration needed.
