Spooky Story Workshop

A free story time for kids ages 8 to 13 at the Austin branch, where the focus is on what makes scary tales work. The workshop runs Monday, October 12, from 5:00 to 6:00 PM, with a fake campfire setting and a mix of classic spooky stories read aloud and a chance for participants to tell their own. The conversation covers the tricks storytellers use to build suspense, so it works both for kids who want to perform and those who would rather just listen.
