Sculpt Like Hunt and Perkins: A Creative Sculpting Workshop

A workshop at Toman that uses the work of two influential Black Chicago sculptors as a springboard for your own hands-on projects. Artist Joy Joshua leads participants through creating mixed-media sculptures with clay, wire, cardboard, and paint, inspired by Richard Hunt's abstract metal forms and Marion Perkins's legacy. The session runs Monday, November 30, from 5:00 to 6:00 PM, and includes prompts like modular geometric shapes, figurative abstractions, and community-inspired designs. Part of the Chicago Public Library's Renaissance Project series, it's open to anyone curious about Chicago art history and making something with their hands.
